The event will be an opportunity to express concerns and thoughts about Brexit’s impact on rights and standards. Our goal is to bring civil society and relevant stakeholders together to network and share information about the EU Withdrawal Bill- the landmark Brexit legislation that aims to transpose EU law into UK law. Protecting our rights, regulatory standards, environment, and the devolution settlements post-Brexit: A roundtable discussion

Brexit has raised many questions about the future of the UK and the status of the devolution settlements. Most importantly for civil society, it has created both uncertainty and opportunities for the protection of environmental standards, the safeguarding of rights at work, and the future of consumer standards - to name but a few.

At the moment these questions are most critically raised in the EU (Withdrawal) Bill, the landmark Brexit legislation that aims to transpose EU law into UK law.

We want to make sure civil society has an opportunity to express their voice with this significant piece of legislation. Hosted by the Repeal Bill Alliance, this half day roundtable discussion will be an opportunity to express concerns and thoughts about Brexit’s impact on rights and standards. To get the conversation going, Jane Thomas- the coordinator of the Alliance will kick off with some introductory remarks and other speakers TBA. We we will also be discussing how civil society can work together and introduce our campaigns toolkit which is aimed for organisations who want to make sure that rights, protections, environment and devolution are still maintained post-Brexit.

The Repeal Bill Alliance is an alliance of over 70 advocacy, campaign and civil society groups that has been working collectively following the publication of the European Union (Withdrawal Bill). Organisations and sectors in human rights, the environment, consumer and workers rights, equality, democracy, food, farming, trade and further education are working together to ensure that rights, standards, environmental protections and devolution is protected as we make our exit from the European Union. The impact of Brexit on the third sector- a Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) event

The impact of Brexit on the third sector – a Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) event

As Brexit progresses, uncertainty and unknowns prevail. With the outline of a deal now beginning to emerge, now more than ever, charities and voluntary organisations will need to make their voice heard, identify and navigate unprecedented challenges and adapt to an, as yet unknown, new reality.

Keeping track of the latest developments and learning from those in the know is crucial. With this in mind, we would like to invite you to attend a reception hosted by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) to hear from the Scottish Government’s Minister for UK Negotiations on Scotland's Place in Europe, Michael Russell MSP – who will outline the latest in terms of negotiations, offer his view on where we are heading and set out the Scottish Government’s position regarding Brexit.

Joining Mr Russell will be a panellist of leading civil society voices from both the UK and Europe who will offer their own unique perspectives before joining a Q&A session with the Minister.

The reception will take place on Monday 29 January6pm-8pm at Scotland House, 58 Victoria Embankment, London, EC4Y 0DS.

We would be pleased if you would join us for a networking reception afterwards. Refreshments will be served.

Places are limited and based on a first come, first basis. If you are interested in attending, please ensure you Register here.
